The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a national NGO that has been working in Bangladesh since 1996 to build an inclusive, just, and rights-based society for people with all types of disabilities. CDD serves in Bangladesh as a local Grants Manager for international organisations, implements projects directly and provides advisory services on disability inclusion. CDD is working to break down barriers that limit dignified participation & inclusion of persons with disabilities and build a world where every person, regardless of their abilities, can live with respect and opportunity. CDD's projects encompass a diverse range of individuals, focusing on persons with disabilities across all impairment types, age groups, sexes, and communities. CDD also prioritises families, parents, and carers of persons with disabilities, recognising their vital role. A priority target group of CDD is children and youths with disabilities. CDD’s target group also includes individuals from other at-risk populations, ensuring an inclusive approach that addresses the unique needs, vulnerabilities and capacities of these groups. CDD works in collaboration with Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), government agencies, NGOs, UN bodies, and international partners to strengthen the disability movement, promote inclusive policies, and ensure that persons with disabilities participate meaningfully in decision-making processes. In 2010, our former and founding Executive Director, A.H.M. Noman Khan, received the prestigious international Ramon Magsaysay Award for his pioneering leadership and dedication to building a truly inclusive, barrier-free society.
